The picture processor integrated with LG A1 and CX are different. LG A1 is powered by α7 Gen4 AI Processor 4K while LG CX is powered by α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 4K. While α7 Gen4 AI Processor 4K is the newer version picture processor, but α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 4K is indeed the more advanced one. While it comes as part of the newer 2021 TV series, LG A1 is positioned lower than LG CX. Which of them should be your choice? LG A1 is only a good choice if it’s offered at the lower price. As the basic series from LG’s 2021 TV lineup, LG A1 comes with less powerful α7 picture processor that completed with only AI Picture. It also comes with only 60Hz native refresh rate without G-SYNC, FreeSync and VRR support. The speaker system of LG A1 is also only 2Ch 20W with only AI Sound. But basically, LG A1 is still a good choice as long as it’s offered at the lower price with some discount since it’s still able to deliver perfect black, infinite contrast and wide color gamut of OLED as well as HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision support. It’s even better if you find LG CX offered at the lower price than LG A1.
